Work for Applicants

Your Right to Work in the UK
Working Holiday Visa

If you are a commonwealth citizen and are aged 30 or under, you can apply for a working holiday visa.  These can last up to 2 years and allow you to work in the UK.  For more information go to: www.ukvisas.gov.uk.

Ancestry Visa or Certificate of Entitlement / Right of Abode

If your parents or grandparents were born in the UK, and depending on certain rules, you can apply for either an ancestry visa which is usually valid for four years or a certificate of entitlement / right of abode which entitles you to work in the UK without restriction.  You might need a letter confirming that you are looking for work here in support of your application for an ancestry visa and we would provide this if you prove suitable for work with our agency.  For more information go to: www.ukvisas.gov.uk.

EU Passport

If you hold a passport from an EU member state you are able to work in the UK without restriction.

Student Visas

Limit you to working 20 hours during term time and 40 hours during vacation.  Unfortunately, live-in work requires longer hours than a student visa will allow.

Job Related Work Permits

You may have a work permit which states that you are allowed to work for a certain company in the UK.  Therefore, it is not transferable and you are limited to working in that job and for that company only.  This includes the National Health Service.

Applicants from the EU Accession States
